Let Them Entertain You – June!

The musicians and actors who’ve worked with Boston Rock Opera are a busy and talented bunch! Here’s a list of some of the plays, concerts and events they are involved with this month. As always, check back weekly for updates.

Saturday June 3 is another busy day of music and dance!

Slippin’ and Slidin’ toward Summer with Lookie Lookie. Another awesome Bugulu party hosted by Russ Gershon and his fantastic band. Come party and dance the night away at Accurate Records loft in Somerville. Tickets: http://lookielookiejune3.bpt.me/

Or, dance the night away ’80s style with Bikini Whale and Heart Attack Ack Ack Ack Ack Ack at the The New World Tavern 56 Main St, Plymouth, Massachusetts 02360. Bikini Whale features BRO alum and active performers Michael A. Jordan as Fred, Lisa McColgan as Cindy, Erica Mantone as Kate, Kevin Coombs as Ricky, Joshua Pickering as Keith and Carolyn Corella as Sara Lee.

Riverfest is an annual outdoor celebration of the arts presented by the Cambridge Arts Council. Multiple stages featuring Folk, Jazz, World, Rock and Roots music, plus food vendors, shopping and more. This year that includes a performance by The Revelations!

June 3 is also the Arlington Porchfest. Check out their website for more information about all of the bands performing.

Sunday, June 4,  The Revelations Gospel Brunch featuring three BRO powerhouse voices; Erica Mantone, Jennifer D’Angora,and Andrea Gillis, returns to Atwood’s, 877 Cambridge St, Cambridge. (This monthly residency continues on the first Sunday of each month). Recover from Saturday. Bring the kids! Enjoy the back deck!

On Sunday, June 4, Mike’s Monster Guitar Birthday Bash IV! $10.00, Doors at 2:00pm The Midway Cafe, 3496 Washington Street, Jamaica Plain. Featuring a host of bands including Axemunkee, featuring Catherine Capozzi. Proceeds to benefit the MSPCA. Details about the line-up

Body English (featuring Clinton Degan with guest vocalist Sami Greenberg) will be bringing their progressive rock goodness to Great Scott, opening for Bent Knee and The Shills. Monday, June 5. More Info

June 24, Kingdom of Love, featuring the multi-talented long time BRO performer and supporter Linda Viens, is having their CD release party at the Lizard Lounge, 1667 Massachusetts Ave. Also on the bill is Parlour Bells, featuring the one and only Goddam Glenn. KOL is thrilled to also have special guests fellow BRO artists Sandra Marcelino, Sue Minichiello, and Zachary Z-String Rochester performing with them. On Sunday, June 25, BRO Artistic Director Eleanor Ramsay will open her garden up to support educational programs of the Somerville Garden Club. The Somerville Garden Club 2017 Garden Tour is a rare chance to visit 20 Somerville and Cambridge gardens. Tickets are 18. Check back for more information about advance tickets.

Save the Date! Boston Rock Opera returns to ONCE with a special night of dance on August 11. The Hereafter Party: A Tribute to Bowie, Prince and George Michael, is a benefit for The Children’s Room, which provides grief support services to children, teens and families. Three different bands and a host of stellar vocalists from the Boston music scene will perform high-energy sets of these legendary artists. Dressing the part, and dancing the night away will be expected. You have been warned!
